Guide for Authors

Instructions for Authors

Structure

Manuscripts should be typesetted in English with double spacing by using Word or LaTeX. Authors should take care of the following items when submitting a manuscript:

  1. The title page should include the name(s) of the author(s), the affiliation(s) of the author(s), i.e., Institution, (Department), City, (State), Country, and an active e-mail address of the corresponding author.
  2. The abstract contains 200 words or less with no reference number therein and undefined abbreviations.
  3. Keywords contain 4 to 6 keywords.
  4. The main text includes an introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references; and appendices (as appropriate).
  5. The list of references should only include papers that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication.

Formatting and Templates

The authors are responsible for using the style file of the journal to properly format accepted articles. Papers may be submitted in Word or LaTeX formats. The main document should be double-spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides, and all pages should be numbered consecutively. Text should appear in 12-point Times New Roman or other common 12-point font. Subscripts and superscripts should be set off clearly and a zero should precede all decimal points. Principal equations should be displayed on separate lines and the following sequence of parentheses should be used. Equation numbers should be given in parentheses at the right-hand margin. Normally manuscripts are expected not to exceed 25 double-spaced pages including text, tables, figures, and bibliography. Meanwhile, to assist you in preparing your paper, we provide formatting template(s). The Latex template is available for this journal. Please save the template to your hard drive, ready for use. If you are not able to use the template via the links (or if you have any other template queries) please contact us here.

Submission

For first (initial) submissions, we require a single pdf file, but for revised submissions, the editable source files (Word or Latex) should be provided. Our online submission system guides you stepwise through the process of entering your article details and uploading your files. Editable files (Word or LaTeX) are required to typeset your article for final publication. All correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revision, is sent by e-mail. All peer review is single blind and submission is online via  https://smps.um.ac.ir/contacts?action=loginForm. The Submission Portal allows you to see your submissions in one place. If you are submitting in LaTeX, please convert the files to PDF in the first submission.

Submission declaration and verification

Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract, a published lecture or academic thesis), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors and tacitly or explicitly by the responsible authorities where the work was carried out, and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or any other language, including electronically without the written consent of the copyright holder. See also Publication Ethics.

Peer review

Content published in this journal is peer-reviewed (Single Blind). All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editor, and if found suitable for further consideration, will be peer-reviewed by independent and anonymous expert referees. Papers deemed suitable are then typically sent to a minimum of two independent expert reviewers to assess the scientific quality of the paper. The Editor is responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles. The Editor's decision is final.

After Acceptance

One set of page proofs (as PDF files) will be sent by e-mail to the corresponding author or a link will be provided in the e-mail so that authors can download the files themselves. To ensure a fast publication process of the article, we kindly ask authors to provide us with their proof corrections within four days. Please list your corrections quoting line number. If, for any reason, this is not possible, then mark the corrections and any other comments on a printout of your proof, scan the pages, and return them via e-mail. Please use this proof only for checking the typesetting, editing, completeness, and correctness of the text, tables, and figures. Significant changes to the article as accepted for publication will only be considered at this stage with permission from the Editor. We will do everything possible to get your article published quickly and accurately. It is important to ensure that all corrections are sent back to us in one communication: please check carefully before replying, as the inclusion of any subsequent corrections cannot be guaranteed. Proofreading is solely your responsibility.
