Peer Review Process
SMPS uses a single-anonymous (single-blind) peer review process for all research articles.
All submitted manuscripts are first assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or a designated Editor to determine whether they are within the scope of the journal and meet the journal's basic standards for quality and presentation. Manuscripts that are considered suitable for further consideration are sent for external peer review.
Each manuscript is normally reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the subject of the manuscript. Reviewers are selected based on their academic and subject-matter expertise and must be independent of the authors and their institutions. Reviewers are expected to disclose any potential conflict of interest and should decline to review a manuscript where such a conflict exists. Under the single-anonymous review model, the identities of the reviewers are kept confidential and are not disclosed to the authors. Authors' identities are available to reviewers. Reviewers evaluate manuscripts primarily on the basis of scientific quality, originality, methodological soundness, clarity, significance, and relevance to the journal's scope. Reviewers provide recommendations and comments to assist the Editor in reaching an editorial decision.
The final decision regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection rests with the Editor-in-Chief or the designated Editor, based on the reviewers' reports and the overall scientific quality of the manuscript. The Editor may request additional reviews when necessary, including in cases where reviewers provide substantially conflicting recommendations.
The journal does not guarantee acceptance of submitted manuscripts, nor does it guarantee a specific peer review or publication timeframe. All peer review is conducted in accordance with the journal's policies on confidentiality, research integrity, and conflicts of interest.
